Good Faith Estimate
Your right to understand the cost of therapy
Before services are provided
Under the federal No Surprises Act, you generally have the right to receive a written Good Faith Estimate if you do not have health insurance or do not plan to use insurance to pay for therapy.
A Good Faith Estimate explains the expected cost of your care before services are provided. It is not a bill or a contract, and receiving one does not require you to begin or continue therapy.
What to expect
Individual therapy sessions are $150 for 50 minutes.
Because the length of therapy varies, your estimate will be based on the session frequency and period of treatment reasonably anticipated at that time. If your needs or treatment plan change, you may receive an updated estimate.
You may request a Good Faith Estimate before scheduling or at any point during therapy.
If your bill is higher than expected
If a bill from a provider is at least $400 more than the amount listed in that provider’s Good Faith Estimate, you may be eligible to use the federal patient-provider dispute resolution process. A dispute generally must be initiated within 120 days of receiving the bill.
